History of Submarine cable
 Since
Submarine cable was built in English Dover Channel as submarine
telegram cable in 1851, present submarine coaxial cable was
appeared in 1956 and was able to communicate several people
at same time. After 1970, optical cable was developed and applied
in the submarine communication means, it became to be the most
optimal transmission media. And in 1988 the submarine optical
cable era was opened, long distance in Pacific Ocean and Atlantic
Ocean and mass capacity submarine optical cable has been developing
rapidly and coming to recent days.

The business structure of Submarine cable industry
Basically, consists of three axis of the cable supplier, the
cable vessel operation company and the communication company.
The communication company is the subject of the orders the installation
the cable as the consortium mainly international telecommunication
companies(KT, AT&T, NT), the cable supplier is the main
contractor which receives the order as the optical cables and
transmission equipment manufacture. At present Alcatel Submarine
Network(France), Tycom(USA), KDD Submarine Cable System(Japan)
three companies cover more than 80% of market. The last is the
company which own the vessel or hires the vessel to construct
the cable. Our company own the cable vessel "Segero"
and takes parts in the market of submarine cable installation
as the cable vessel operation company. |
